What is a Class B Work Permit?

The Class B work permit authorizes foreign nationals to engage, either independently or in partnership, in the business of agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, or animal husbandry in Kenya.

Who Qualifies?

  • Foreign farmers, agricultural investors, and agribusiness specialists setting up or running farming ventures in Kenya.

Requirements & Documents Required

  • Duly filled and signed Form 25 and supporting application returns.
  • Formal cover letter explaining the agricultural venture.
  • Valid passport bio-data page and passport-sized photographs.
  • Evidence of land ownership or registered long-term agricultural leases.
  • Proof of sufficient capital and financial resources for the agribusiness.
  • Company registration documents (Certificate of Incorporation, CR12) and Tax Compliance Certificates.
  • Relevant professional qualifications and CV in agricultural management.

Government Fees

  • Processing Fee (Non-refundable): KES 20,000 (~USD 155)
  • Annual Issuance Fee: KES 500,000 per year (~USD 3,850)
